Former Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said the provincial government will end the Thana culture and introduce the new police system in 2015. Talking to newsmen, Rana Sanaullah Khan said the criticism on the government was a right of the Opposition and it could also stage demonstrations on different issues but they should not be based on violence. To a question, he said that if the PTI chief Imran Khan had proof of rigging in the general elections, then he should go to a court.
He said the government earlier held talks with Imran Khan on a container but now talks were under way with him through a backchannel. He asked Imran Khan to give proposals for the 2018 general elections rather than creating anarchy in the country. He said that Imran would get nothing by raising hue and cry. He said that the young generation would create problems for Imran the way he was making attempts to mislead them. He said that PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had shown wisdom by ending Dharna and accepting the Constitution. Qadri was running an election campaign in connection with Bhakkar by-polls, which was the best way from him, Sana added.
Earlier, addressing a ceremony after inaugurating the construction of Samanabad police station building, which would be completed at a cost of Rs 36.2 million, he said the government would introduce a comprehensive justice system under which the oppressed people would feel relief in the process of seeking justice. He said the Punjab government had allocated Rs 93 billion for strengthening the Police Department. Speaking on the occasion, CPO Dr Sohail Tajik said that construction of the police station building was a part of measures being taken for maintaining peace in the society.
