Transparency and professional management can make public institutions profitable instead of their privatisation, said Senator Raza Rabbani at a press conference held at PPP Media Cell, on Wednesday. He said that professional boards could also play a vital role in making them better organisations.
Rabbani requesting the Sindh Chief Minister said that provincial government must issue the notification of minimum wage which is applicable to the employees of the private sector. He said if there was no Minimum-Wage-Commissioner then the provincial government should take step to appoint him as soon as possible adding that they were aware of the attitude of the private sector with their employees. They should avoid such treatment with them otherwise PPP would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them for their rights, he declared.
About privatisation issue, he said that it was unfortunate that PPP-led government could not take K-Electric into government custody due to some certain reasons. The Federal government must not privatise federal and provincial public institutions as those could be made profitable, he said. An anti-privatisation trade unions conference is going to be held on December 4 to review the matters, he added.
