Five armed dacoits on Wednesday looted some Rs 800,000 from a private bank located in North Nazimabad. According to police, the incident occurred in the morning when five armed men barged into the bank and took the entire staff hostage at gunpoint and managed to escape with Rs 0.8 million.
Two of the private security guards hired by the bank management have been arrested on suspicion as they reportedly made no effort to resist the criminals. Due to scheduled two-hour load shedding in the area, the close circuit cameras installed at the bank premises were not functional at the time of incident. Whereas, the bank management had made no alternative arrangement for power supply that could keep functional the essential CCTV surveillance, said the officials.
