Parliamentary Secretary Raja Javed Ikhlas said there is no prevalence of Ebola virus in Pakistan. Responding to a calling attention notice moved by Dr Nafisa Shah in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Raja Javed Akhlas told the House that no death occurred in Pakistan due to this virus. "The person, who died in Chiniot had expired due to Hepatitis C and not Ebola virus."
He said an effective plan has been prepared in collaboration with provinces and Pakistan Army to check spread of Ebola virus in the country. He said a task force headed by Director General Health and representatives of the provinces, Azad Kashmir, Fata and Pakistan Army has been established for pre-emptive measures to face Ebola virus. The Parliamentary Secretary said special counters have been established at international airports to screen incoming passengers, especially those from countries affected by Ebola virus. Training is being imparted to doctors and para-medical staff.
