Turk envoy calls on chief minister: Corruption-free system guarantees success: Khattak
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that a corruption free transparent system and not high rising buildings, highways and bridges guaranteed success of any government but unfortunately the past regimes acted otherwise just to grab commissions and other personal gains irrespective of caring for quality of projects.
He further stated that introducing independent monitoring system in education sector was one of our hundreds of institutional reforms that ensured attendance of the teachers and students in the schools in wake of the proven fact that education was the only key to a bright future of a nation.
Chief Minister vowed that revival of the industrial and economical activities and producing maximum attraction for investment in various sectors of the province was our next goal that could guarantee our economic health as well as provide precious opportunities to our youth to demonstrate their talents. He was talking to ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Pakistan, S. Babur Girgin who called on him at CM House Peshawar and discussed with him matters relating to mutual co-operation in energy generation, housing, solid waste management and municipal services, skills development, tourism and other sectors.
The Turk Ambassador was also accompanied by Kamil Kolabas Advisor to Turk Prime Minister on International Aid and Giray Tezel Country Director of Turk Development Agency while Honorary Consul General of Turkey in Peshawar Saleem Saifullah Khan, Deputy Chief Mission Malik Riaz Advocate, Mohsin Aziz Vice Chairman Board of Investment and Trade (BoIT), Syed Zafar Ali Shah Secretary Planning & Development, Special Secretary to Chief Minister and Secretary Information Muhammad Israr Khan and other concerned authorities were also present on the occasion.
The Turk Ambassador lauded candid steps of KP government for bringing about peace in the province and introducing transparency in the government departments by uprooting corruption. He made clear that only such a feasible environment could pave way for the industrial and economic revolution as well as attract foreign investment.
He also lauded changes in education sector saying that ending the colonial based dual system of education and introducing English as only medium of instruction would cause educational and economic revolution in the coming decades. He also invited Pervez Khattak for official tour of Turkey upon which the Chief Minister replied that he will only proceed on foreign trip when he saw some returns for his people.
Talking to the Turk ambassador, the Chief Minister invited the Turk investors to invest in the various sectors in the province including energy and housing and assured all type of facilities and guarantees in this regard. He said that the provincial government intended to cherished green and clean Peshawar project as well as to complete mass transit system including modern bus service between Peshawar and Hayatabad so that the rush of traffic could be minimised in the city as well as cheap and quick facilities of transport could be provided to the people.
Pervez Khattak maintained that the provincial government was working on setting up of two new cities under Peshawar Model Town that would be four time bigger than Hayatabad and education city near Colonel Sher Khan Interchange on Motorway and the investors of Turkey and all the friendly countries were here by encouraged and invited to invest in the same.
He while welcoming offer of Turk govt of co-operation in technical training said we want our youth to be well equipped with education and skills so that they could easily find jobs both in land and abroad.
Pervez Khattak said that 6 new industrial zones were being established in the province in the divisional level whereas cheap electricity would be provided to its factories under gas to energy and hydel generation plans. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was in-fact unfeasible for industries then due to geopolitical factors in the present circumstances whereas cheap electricity was the only source of attraction for setting up of industries over here. On this occasion it was decided to arrange separate departmental briefing for Turk diplomatic mission and investors in the coming weeks.
