Suspected Palestinian gunmen in Gaza shot at an Israeli military jeep near the border Thursday, drawing retaliatory tank fire into the Palestinian enclave, the army said. Medical sources in Gaza said nobody was wounded in the exchange. "Shots were fired from Gaza at an IDF (army) routine patrol operating along the fence. No injuries were reported, the vehicle was damaged," the Israeli military said. "In response, a shell was fired towards the source of fire," it said in a statement.
On Sunday, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian farmer near the border in the first deadly shooting around Gaza since an August truce ended a 50-day war.
