The Karachi Port handled 152,069 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,897 tonnes of import cargo and 32,172 tonnes of export cargo including 6,274 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 119,897 tonnes comprised of 46,997 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,734 tonnes of general cargo; 36,701 tonnes of bulk cargo: 28,850 tonnes of coal; 7,851 tonnes of soyabean meal and 23,465 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,172 tonnes comprised of 23,875 tonnes of containerised cargo; 308 tonnes of general cargo; 6,839 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,712 tonnes of cement; 5,127 tonnes of rice and 1,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,274 containers comprising 3,558 containers import and 2,716 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,142 of 20's and 1,079 of 40's loaded while 38 of 20's and 110 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 473 of 20's and 529 of 40's loaded containers while 247 of 20's and 469 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely PAC Aries, Maersk Messina and Dato Success carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. AS Carelia, APL Chicago and VSC Castor carrying containers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Philadelphia, X-Press Euphrates and Filia Glory carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Halil Sahin and Le He carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. COSCO Kobe, Ocean Flower and Dragon Glory carrying containers, DAP and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Lissy Schulte, Sakaka, Bon Atlantico and Han Li carrying containers, chemical and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 58,740 tonnes comprising 28,779 tonnes of import cargo and 29,961 export cargo inclusive 1,461 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 28,779 tonnes includes 4,590 tonnes of palm oil; 8,985 tonnes of rapeseeds and 15,204 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 29,961 tonnes includes 13,097 tonnes of crude oil; 1,387 tonnes of cement and 15,477 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupasant, MV Grand Pioneer and MT Chemroad Rose with containers, cement and oil tanker sailed out sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Chicago carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupasant, CV MSC Chicago, MV Grand Pioneer, MT Torm Clara, MV Ocean Lion and MT Chemroad Rose currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rape seeds, edible oil and crude oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely OOCL Kobe, Hugo Schulte, Verginia, Moon Globe, LPG Nisyros, Silver Emily and Al-Soor-II with containers, wheat, coal, LPG, edible oil and diesel oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels with containers and crude oil expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are five ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV OOCL Kobe, MV Moon Globe, MT LPG Nisyros and MT Silver Emily with containers, coal, LPG and edible oil due to arrive on Thursday.
