Taj urges political parties to shun politics of abusive language, focus issues
ISLAMABAD: In-charge Central Election Cell, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Taj Haider Wednesday urged all political parties to shun politics of abusive language and focus on issues being faced by the country.
Addressing a press conference along with Barrister Amir Hassan, Nazir Dhoki and Chaudhry Latif Akber, Taj Haider said priority of Central Election Cell would be to avoid personal attacks and concentrate on politics of issues. “The politics of PPP revolves around the poor people of the country. Former Governor Gen Musa had said sarcastically that PPP was being supported by only country’s downtrodden and other people of such category.
No notable personality supported PPP. Former Premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto retaliated that downtrodden were the real owners of the country.
Taj Haider said that once these electable were sitting in the lap of non-democratic forces and then they joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and now joining third party.
These persons are neither loyal with the country nor with any political party.
He said that pre-poll rigging has started, despite of the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 137 Returning Officers (ROs) have been transferred from Sindh.
Taj Haider said that by such dirty tactics, little bit disputes have been started in the Sindh province and situation is turning towards violence rapidly, adding that PML-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif was contesting the elections in Karachi constituency by displaying pictures of Altaf Hussain.
He asked the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) that democracy and violence cannot go along and PPP was always against personal attacks and violence.
Taj Haider said that inaccurate census and faulty delimitation of Sindh constituencies were start of pre-poll rigging and the vote of PPP was divided, adding that no seat of the province was increased and delimitation made in Karachi on the basis of race, caste and language.
To a question, he said that every political party should discourage the politics of money and approach in the court of law.
“PPP was ready to face every court of law but on the basis of equality, he said adding that PPP will protest double standard in which they first send to jail and then instituted cases against them in the court,” he added.
Taj Haider said that free, fair and transparent elections was not responsibility of the PPP and demanded the concerned authorities to conduct fair and transparent polls.
He said that PPP had faced many times rigging in general elections but always tried to support continuity of democracy in the larger interest of the country.
To another question, he said that PPP manifesto will be revolutionary and Saraiki Province was part of party’s manifesto which will be announced by the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday.
Taj Haider asked the PPP candidates and workers across the country to contact with Central Election Cell in case of any help which was working 24 hours.
