Pakistan People's Party Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said:"Go Nawaz go" is a good slogan, but the government would go "when I want it". He was addressing a ceremony held in connection with 47th Youm-e-Tasees (foundation day) of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) at Bilawal House here on Sunday.
The PPP founding day celebrations will conclude on Tuesday. On the first day, districts representatives from all over the province, party parliamentarians and members of the executive body participated.
A large number of party stalwarts and supporters of the party from Central and South Punjab attended the function. They included former prime ministers Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Senator Aitezaz Ahsan.
In his brief speech, the PPP Co-chairman said that the government should be allowed to complete its term. He warned if hurdles were created in the way of the government, then undemocratic forces would take over the country.
He said: "At present Kaptan (Imran Khan) was bowling. When he will be tired, then I would start bowling. PPP would never do politics on the signal of any `umpire' as it believed in its own strength. Those politicians who acted upon the signal of the umpire, their cricketing was doubtful, Zardari remarked.
Without naming any one, Zardari said:" he was keeping an eye on one Bheria (wolf) who had landed in Islamabad. His politics and thinking was of a small minded person. His days have been numbered and on the contrary, he (Zardari) was doing the politics of a visionary politician."
The former president said that Imran Khan had yet to learn politics. PPP had restored democracy by sacrificing blood which could not be extinguished with a flame. He assured party workers that PPP would again come into power through democratic means. Zardari advised the workers to maintain disciple among their ranks as incidents of indiscipline earned bad name for the party.
Earlier, PPP leaders reserved their venom and criticism against PTI Chairman and remained conciliatory about the PML-N and its leaders.
Yusuf Raza Gilani and Senator Aitezaz Ahsan criticised Imran Khan's politics of agitation and sit-ins. Gilani said that Imran Khan would gain nothing by his `dharnas'and public meetings as governments could not be derailed by agitations.
Aitezaz Ahsan that Imran Khan has a right to hold peaceful public meetings. However, his earlier plans have failed to uproot the government.
