The Businessmen Panel led by Tariq Saeed is to sweep the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) annual elections, former president FPCCI Senator Ghulam Ali said, here on Sunday. "We enjoy full faith and trust of the business community since decades which will play a decisive role in the elections," he added Speaking at a meeting attended by hundreds of presidents and office-bearers of different chambers and associations. He said that Tariq Sayeed had served the business community selflessly for 40 years without any allegation of corruption, favouritism.
Speaking on the occasion, President FPCCI Zarkia Usman said that Tariq Sayeed had not accumulated wealth and that he would not allow anyone to take FPCCI as hostage.
"Some people have formed a small group so that they can achieve their objectives, which was impossible otherwise," he added.
Senator Haji Adeel said that the economic situation is far from good and we need strong leadership like Tariq Sayeed to represent business community. He said that fake statements and buying of votes will never serve the purpose of those trying to hijack the FPCCI.
Speaking at the occasion, the Businessman Group candidate Anjum Nisar, who is Chairman of PIAF said that not a single leader of our group is facing any probe while the leaders of contending group are facing NAB probe for embezzling millions in the construction of FPCCI Capital Office building.
He informed that so far, 34 chambers out of 44 and 84 associations out of 104 have reposed confidence in Businessman Group while all the 18 chambers but two in the KPK, GB and Fata have assured full support in the elections. -PR
