Planting of Brazil's 2014/15 soya crop was 85 percent complete as of Friday, up 9 percentage points from 76 percent a week earlier amid ample rain in most growing areas, Brazilian consultancy AgRural said on Monday. After being heavily delayed in October by lack of rain, planting is now only 4 percentage points behind last year when it was 89 percent complete, AgRural said in a weekly report.
Heavy rain in No 2 growing state Parana prevented sowing from advancing more over the past week, but the rains are needed to ensure proper development of the young crop. Planting has essentially ended in top growing state Mato Grosso, at 98 percent complete. It is 91 percent finished in Parana.
