Petition against Special Court order in Musharraf trial: IHC Registrar returns petition raising objections
The Registrar Office of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday returned a petition challenging the verdict of the special court hearing the treason case against former president General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) on November 21, by raising objections.
The IHC's registrar office objected that High Court was not the right forum for any petition against the proceedings of the special court. The petition was filed by former president District Bar Association Rawalpindi Advocate Taufiq Asif. The petitioner pleaded before the court to declare the special court verdict issued on November 21as void, wherein the court directed the government to include the names of three senior ex-functionaries, including former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, ex-federal minister Zahid Hamid and former chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as co-accused. He further prayed that the trial of the senior ex-functionaries be conducted separately and not with the treason case against Pervez Musharraf.
