"Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec) has evolved a plan to assist industrial sector primarily to enhance productivity and competitiveness." Project Director Tusdec Sadia Masood said this while talking at Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) here on Wednesday.
She said that under five-year SME development programme, Tusdec will set up three engineering support centres at Peshawar, Lasbela and Hyderabad with estimated cost of 671.95 million rupees. "The concept is to facilitate local industry with modern design and fabrication solutions and technical consultancy," she added. She further said that setting up of engineering support centres will help in need-based manpower development and demand based technical assistance for local industry.
Tusdec in collaboration with Agency for Technical Co-operation and Development (ACTED) is also implementing a project aimed at improving the quality of TVET sector in various regions of Azad Kashmir, KP and Sindh, she mentioned. She said Tusdec will provide training to almost 12,000 women and men in Fata and KP to boost technical and vocational education in Fata and KP. Earlier, while addressing the SIMAP members of SIMAP Sadia Masood called upon authorities to identify their needs and submit proposal in this regard. Chairman SIMAP Tahir Ashfaq also addressed the gathering.
