To create awareness and to show solidarity with the special people, a symbolic sit-in under the patronage of Ghazali Education Trust(GET) was arranged in front of the Punjab Assembly building. The individuals and the representatives of the political parties, civil society and the journalists participated in the sit-in.
The objective of the sit-in was to let the society aware of the importance of the special people. Speaking to participants of the sit-in, Khuwaja Salman Rafiq (health advisor), Dr Farrukh Javed (Minister of Agriculture Punjab) highlighted the steps taken by the government in this regard along with the deep affiliation of the Punjab Chief Minister showing love and affection with the Department of Special Education.
Ex-Minister of Education, Imran Masood said that even with the expansion of the Special Education Institutions, the model already introduced by the Ex Chief Minister, Pervaiz Ellahi is still in practice without any further innovations. He also stressed on to facilitate the needs of the special children.
Liaqat Baloch, the President Women and Family Commission Pakistan Dr Sameeha Raheel Qazi, Allama Ibitsam Ellahi Zaheer, Members Punjab Assembly Kanwal Nouman, Dr Nousheen Hamid, Dr Seemi Bukhari, Andleeb Abbas, Najam Wali Khan, Amna Ulfat and others stressed on the need to provide the equal employment, educational and health opportunities to the special people, let them aware of their rights, bring the research work into black and white and to involve the Special Children through inclusive education so as to streamline the priorities set by the Government. Siraj-ul-Haq, Allama Ibtisaam Ellahi Zaheer, Dr Farrukh Javed, Mian Imran Masood, Dr Nousheen Hamid, Kanwal Nouaman, Dr Seemi Bukhari, Andleeb Abbas, Amna Ulfat and others added that the restoration of the special people in terms of education and health is rather more important than "Dam Darood". They should not be deprived of such facilities. They further added that a Special Child is not only the child of a family but of a society, for whose restoration is a joint responsibility.
