The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the secretary, Ministry of Interior, in a contempt of court petition filed by former managing director (MD) of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Mir Shah Jahan Khetran, who is being investigated by the NAB for financial mismanagement in the corporation during his tenure.
An IHC single bench headed by Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi heard the contempt petition filed by Khetran, seeking the initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the secretary of interior for placing his name on the on Exit Control List (ECL). It is pertinent to mention that the same bench on December 2 has issued notices to the secretary of interior in a petition filed by Khetran against the placement of his name on the ECL and also directed the petitioner to file a contempt of court application.
Khetran was removed from the post of PTDC MD on December 01, 2013, after which NAB started investigation against him under the allegations of his involvement in financial mismanagement, misuse of funds, and leasing out of PTDC property. Khetran was granted a pre-arrest bail against surety bonds of Rs 500,000 by a division bench of the IHC in May this year.
