Equities suffered losses and closed in minus column at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid descending transaction volume on Friday. The LSE-25 index declined by 06.72 points and was closed at 5811.19 points against 5817.91 points of Thursday, while transaction volume declined to 03.259 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 05.349 million shares.
According to brokers, the market players are showing cautious response and not taking fresh position. The investors also off loaded to pocket available margin. This trend led the market to downward slide. Akzo Nobel Pakistan Limited, Ghani Glass Limited, Honda Atlas Cars (Pak) Limited, Tariq Glass Industries Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company Limited, Grays of Cambridge (Pak) Limited, SNGPL, Maple Leaf Cement NBP and Nishat (Chunian) Limited resisted pressure and closed in positive column while PSO, Pakistan Oil Fields, Mari Petroleum Company Limited, FFC, Glaxo Smith Kline, Netsol Technologies, Bank Alfalah Limited, Pakistan Petroleum limited, Shell Pakistan Limited and Power Cement Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The losers were just ahead with the gainers, as out of a total of 102 companies, 19 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 20 suffered losses, while 68 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Akzo Nobel Pakistan Limited gained Rs 8.70, Ghani Glass Limited was improved by Rs 3.19, Honda Atlas Cars (Pak) Limited was appreciated by Rs 3.08, while Tariq Glass Industries Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company Limited, Grays of Cambridge (Pak) Limited, SNGPL, Maple Leaf Cement, NBP and Nishat (Chunian) Limited were up by Rs 2.41, Rs 2.27, Rs 2.15, paisa-86, paisa-65, paisa-60 and paisa-50, respectively.
On the other hand, PSO shed Rs 5.50, Pakistan Oil Fields was declined by Rs 1.49, Mari Petroleum Company Limited lost Rs 1.26, while FFC, Glaxo Smith Kline, Netsol Technologies, Bank Alfalah Limited, Pakistan Petroleum limited, Shell Pakistan Limited and Power Cement Limited were down by Rs 1.05, Re 1.00, paisa-94, paisa-60, paisa-54, paisa-31 and paisa-25, respectively. The volume leader of the day included the Bank of Punjab Limited with 1,485,500 shares, Silk Bank Limited with 558,500 shares and NIB Bank Limited with 415,000 shares.
