Business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demanded the government to announce a fresh fiscal relief package, what they said that situation is still precarious in term security and law and order in the province.
"The business and commercial activities are still affecting in the prevailing poor law and order, and fragile security in the province, which need to support by giving a new comprehensive relief package for next three years, said President, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fawad Ishaq, while chairing a meeting at the chamber house here on Friday.
KP Minister for Finance Muzafar Said also attended the meeting. Besides, KPCCI vice president Haji Iqbal Khan, former MNA Sabir Hussain Awan, the chamber executive body members, industrialists and businessmen also present on the occasion. During the meeting, an announcement for constitution of three-member committee has been made, aiming to inform provincial government about difficulties and irritants in previous fiscal package, regarding relief on overturn tax extended by federal government to terrorism-stricken business community of KP.
Fawad Ishaq asked the provincial government to play their role for attainment of fresh financial relief package for business community from the Centre. He further demanded the KP government to take the chamber and business community on board before making economic policies in the province. He also sought the half share from the funds, receiving provincial government from the Centre on head of war against terrorism and spends half share of funds under National Finance Commission award for development of businesses in KP.
KPCCI chief asked the provincial government to take steps for industrialisation and provision of facilities and improvement of infrastructure in existing industrial estates in the province. Minister for Finance, Muzafar Said he agreed with all demands and proposals of the KPCCI and said that the Centre has delayed payment of Rs 227.12billion on head federal taxes to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said KP was expected to receive Rs 12billion on head of net hydel profit from Centre, but it only got Rs 2.8billion in this regard. He said a total Rs 131billion of net hydel profit dues, are being outstanding against the Centre, for which negotiation was being carried out with the federal government. He assured the KPCCI will become of negotiation team for attainment of NHP outstanding amount.
