Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here on Saturday reviewing the overall law & order situation in the province. While addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that protection of life and property of the citizen is the top priority of the government and all possible measures would be taken to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the province.
He said the law is equal to all and no one would be allowed to take it into his/her own hands. Shahbaz Sharif said that the supremacy of law would be ensured for protection of life and property of the citizens. He warned that those taking law into their hands would be dealt with severely and no one would be allowed to close the business forcibly.
He said that all necessary steps would be taken for providing security to traders' community. The Chief Minister directed the police to take all possible steps for providing protection to the traders' community and indiscriminate action should be taken against those closing the business forcibly as per law. He said that a watchful eye should be kept on miscreants.
The meeting also discussed a protest call of PTI for closing the city. Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, MNA Hamza Shahbaz, a spokesman for Punjab Government Zaeem Hussain Qadri, MPA Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, secretaries of Home and Information departments and officials concerned attended the meeting.
