The street crimes specially car lifting has risen in the federal Capital manifold as auto thieves have stolen or snatched over 10 vehicles including bikes during the last week from various localities of the city. The residents of the city said that carjackers and robbers are roaming freely and looting the people while the police still unable to keep a vigilant eye on the criminals.
An official source said that nowadays carjackers' gangs are using modern techniques to break the anti-car theft gadgets installed in different vehicles. "Car lifters have also invented a special device which jams tracking system installed in vehicles," source added. The jurisdictions of six police stations ie, Margalla, Industrial Area, Shalimar, Kohsar, Aabpara and Sabzi Mandi have become safe haven for car lifters.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, various police stations have registered 10 cases of auto theft and three cases of robbery during the last week. In the last week Abpara police station registered two cases of auto theft. Auto thieves stole a bike (WM-866) from Polyclinic Hospital car parking and have stolen another bike MNM-1042 from parking area of weekly bazaar. Margalla police registered two cases of motor vehicle theft. Car lifters picked a Suzuki van (CD-2906) from sector G-9 parking and have stolen a Mehran car (MJ-901), and one bike (YN-078) from sector F-8 Markaza during the last week.
Lohi Bheer, Shehzad Town, Industrial Area and Sihala police registered one case each of auto theft during the last week. In the same period Golra police station registered one case each of auto theft and robbery while Shalimar police registered one case of robbery.
