KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that Nowshera is gateway to entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while establishment of two 'unique' universities there would pave way for educational revolution besides opening new vistas of economic growth.
It merits mention here that Chief Minister has accorded approval to the establishment of two new academias of Air University and Technical University on a vast land at AzaKhel along G.T. Road and had directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to expedite work on the projects and put them on ground in the shortest possible time.
There exists a botanical garden spreading on 77 kanals while the rest of more than 650 kanal land of the district council is lying useless on which state of the art Air University and Technical University of international standard will be setup then.
A high level meeting to review the initial progress on the establishment of these new universities especially Technical University was held at CM Secretariat Peshawar with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the chair. Besides, Minister for Higher Education & Information Mushtaq Ghani, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Dr Rasool Jan, Vice Chancellor Engineering University & Project Director TU Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani, Advisor to CM on P&D Mian Khaliqur Rehman, Chairman CM Sectt C&RC Haji DilRoze Khan and other high ups of concerned departments attended the meeting. The proposed Air University will be established under the auspices of Pakistan Air Force while Technical University will be setup by provincial Higher Education department.
The Chief Minister attributed the establishment of both the universities to a milestone and historical measure and said that these almanacs being unique in nature would infuse far reaching impacts in education sector and the economy of the province would revive considerably adding that there would also usher in new era of industrial base and eco beauty in the province because technical education and expertise would get flourished by leaps and bounds and new opportunities of employment and innovation would be explored.
He was of the view that owing to its peculiar geographical location, AzaKhel was very much suitable for the establishment of such educational society while a number of educational institutions were already being setup in the same locality.
He termed the promotion of technical education as the need of the hour and the best way forward to address the core issue of unemployment. He said that with the establishment of the technical university, vocational & technological education would be advanced on modern and scientific lines and in the resultant not only varieties of employment opportunities would be created for the educated yet jobless young lots but industrial sector would also groom in the province.
"Our province has suffered great losses because of the discontinuation of policies and lack of decision power in the past regimes but the same will cease to happen anymore and now whatever conclusion is once made it will be implemented at all costs and all such schemes of national importance will never be thrown in the cold storage", the Chief Minister resolved.
He said that both the universities will not be limited to imparting traditional education and training but these will be hubs of researches, innovations and inventions wherein research works of international standard would be carried out besides imparting all types of technical training and ultimately our young generation will be inclined towards creative activities.
He said that the scheme of technical university is reflected in the provincial ADP 2013-14 with an allocation of Rs 500 million initially whereas the scheme of Air University would be financed and supported by Pakistan Air Force. He also directed the authorities to adopt international criteria standards in the planning, designing and construction of both the universities. The authorities concerned assured all possible professional and technical assistance to the provincial government in the establishment of these new specialised universities.
