Apropos 'Trench to help stop intrusion of terrorists' carried by Business Recorder on Sunday, one needs to appreciate the step aimed at creating a formidable hurdle for terrorists and members of drug mafia. According to the report, the completion of 480-km-long trench along Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan is part of Pakistan's counter-terrorism strategy. Its construction, however, could affect the relations between the two neighbours recently put on track first with the visit of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to Islamabad and on the recently-concluded London conference on Afghanistan.
That the Durand Line is Pak-Afghan border is a fact that would find its best expression in the utility of this trench in due course. Kabul must need to accept this reality without any further loss of time.
