ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal Thursday said over 11,000 complaints had been received against the management of Eden Housing Scheme.

Addressing the victims of Eden Housing in Lahore, he said the caretaker government had been asked to put the names of Eden Housing management in Exit Control List (ECL).

However, the absconders could not flee from NAB. They would be taken back with the help of Interpol, said a press release.

He said Rs. 20 billion assets of management of Eden Housing had already been frozen. All resources would be utilized to compensate the victims of Eden Hosing. No laxity of NAB officers would be tolerated in this regard.

Vociferously negating the impression that NAB was active only in Punjab, he said corruption was being pursued wherever it existed.

He said NAB would never tease the innocent. NAB’s notices should be taken seriously as such were not invitations.

He said 80 percent applications submitted in NAB were against housing societies. The receipt of such huge number of complaints were impossible, if relevant development authorities work honestly and seriously.

He said some people had received up to Rs 20 million for issuing only no objection certificate (NoC) (to housing societies). People were being lured through enchanting advertisements. Cases like Double Shah only reported in countries like Pakistan. NAB was working as per law and answerable to only God, he added.

Meanwhile, Director General NAB Lahore Saleem Shahzad briefed the chairman on various cases comprehensively and intimated him about measures taken against Eden Housing corruption scam.
