Elimination of terrorism: 'UK extending commendable technical support to Pakistan'
Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema has said that Britain is extending commendable technical co-operation to Pakistan for elimination of terrorism and its help in the sectors of police, forensic lab and civil defence will play main role in coping with this menace.
He stated this while talking to British High Commissioner Patrick Modi during a meeting held here on Thursday. Provincial Home Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Secretary Home, Secretary Prosecution, Additional IG and senior officers of forensic and civil defence departments were also present on the occasion. The CS said Pakistan is taking all-out steps for rooting out terrorism and an effective strategy is being implemented for this purpose. He also said technical co-operation being extended by Britain in the sectors of civil defence, police and forensic lab will help in elimination of this problem.
British High Commissioner Patrick Modi said the measures taken by Pakistan, especially Punjab for controlling terrorism, are satisfactory and Britain will continue to provide its help for overcoming terrorism so that complete peace could be restored in this region. Later, Chief Secretary Punjab presented a souvenir to British High Commissioner.
