The nation will see a breakthrough in the dialogue between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) anytime soon. This was stated by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal while talking to media persons here on Thursday. He sais, "Political parties must respect each other and focus on resolving issues through talks".
Ahsan, who is part of the government's negotiating team, said the government desires to reach a breakthrough in political impasse as early as possible. "Hopefully, talks with the PTI will re-open in better atmosphere", he said, adding: "Street fight will only benefit enemies of Pakistan." He added the government wants to move ahead with negotiations with the PTI in a conducive environment. About delay in announcement of judicial commission, Ahsan said that the government is ready for meaningful talks with PTI from day one and it has already requested the judiciary to constitute a judicial commission to probe rigging. He added that talks were suspended on PTI's unreasonable demand for the Prime Minister's resignation, and now when the PTI has withdrawn this demand, progress in negotiations could be expected. He asked the PTI leadership to demonstrate seriousness to resolve the issue so that the country could move forward speedily on the path of progress and prosperity.
Ahsan also requested the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to direct its representatives to attend meetings of the parliamentary committee on electoral reforms so that the current political deadlock could be ended as early as possible. "If the committee reaches a final decision over the electoral reforms, the PTI will later complain that they were not taken into confidence," he said.
The PML-N leader stressed the need for political maturity and tolerance for bringing political stability in the country, which is a pre-requisite to economic progress. "No state can make progress without political stability. Everybody must work together for the country's prosperity."
He further said the role of political leaders like Imran Khan, Asif Zardari and Altaf Hussain is vital to resolve country's problems. No political leader can solve Pakistan's problems alone, and we will have to give up the approach that I am right and everyone else is wrong," he said, adding: "The country's stability should not be put at stake."
Ahsan expressed regret over the violent incident in Faisalabad and asked political parties not to issue provocative statements that could incite the workers of the opponent parties. "Our enemies will benefit if we take to the streets. We should take to the streets against terrorism, poverty and ignorance," he asserted.
Earlier addressing a seminar, Ahsan said the country is coming out of isolation at international level as the environment has turned favourable for Pakistan in China, Japan, the European Union, the United States, and Middle East. He said the government is undertaking serious and concerted efforts to bring economic development in the country. He underlined the need for equipping the youth with latest knowledge and technology for bringing a real change in the country.
