Punjab government and Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute have agreed to establish Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute in Lahore, under which provincial government will provide 50 acres of land for setting up institute and funds for construction of building. This was decided in a meeting of Board of Governors of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Trust (PKLIT) here on Thursday.
Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik and members of the Trust attended the meeting. The meeting formally elected 11 private members of the BoGs. Head of Al-Shifa International Islamabad Dr Saeed Akhtar has been elected as President of BoGs, Dr Syed Nayyar Mehmood as Vice President and Dr Iftikhar-ul-Hassan as Secretary whereas Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif will be its Patron-in-Chief.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that CM has already allocated 50 acres land near Burki Road for establishing institute. He said that setting up Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute is a historic achievement of the government. Dr Saeed Akhtar appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for giving final shape to the matters and taking personal interest in the establishment of the institute.
