The Senate of the Khyber Medical University (KMU) on Thursday approved the proposed plan to establish KMU Institute of Dental Sciences in Kohat. This decision was taken in 7th meeting of the Senate. KP Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan presided over the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the KP Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, provincial secretaries for Health, Departments of Higher Education, Finance, members of the KMU Senate. KMU vice chancellor briefed the Governor and the participants about the salient features of the achievements of the institution. The Governor while appreciating the ongoing initiatives to establish the Institute of Dental Sciences in Kohat under the aegis of KMU has said that it is rightly expected to prove a landmark addition in the ongoing efforts towards development of services sector in the province.
Referring to the points highlighted by the VC, the Governor said, "We may have long wish list, as far as promotion of medical education is concerned, yet, it is an appreciable progress which this university has achieved through the meager resources at its disposal." He also highlighted the importance of consolidation of the projects materialised so far in respect of Khyber Medical University (KMU) and hoped that the management of the institution will come up to the expectation in this respect as well.
