Maritime security personnel on Thursday arrested at least 50 Indian fishermen and seized 10 boats. According to maritime security sources, some 10 Indian fishing boats along with 50 crew members were apprehended for poaching inside Pakistani waters. The arrested fishermen were handed over to the police and cases were registered against them for straying into Pakistan's territorial waters.
Pakistan and India frequently arrest and accuse each other's fishermen of violating their respective zones in the Arabian Sea. Earlier in November, Pakistan had announced the release of 35 fishermen held for violating territorial waters, a day after the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) summit closed.
