Continental air has turned many parts of the country cold but plunged temperature in Quetta and Astore blow seven degree centigrade in the last 24 hours. Temperature went down in Hunza and Kalat each below 6 degree centigrade, Kalam, Gilgit, Skardu each below 5, Gupis below 4, Rawalakot below 3, Dir, Drosh, Mirkhani, Dalbandin each below 2, Chitral, Lower Dir, Murree and Zhob each blow 1, Met Office said on Thursday.
It warned that a westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country during Friday (evening/night) and persists for the next two days. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country," it said, forecasting mainly cold and dry weather for most parts in next 24 hours.
Weather in next 48 hours is also predicted mainly cold and dry. However, it said, partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with rain (light snowfall over the hills) are expected to prevail in Malakand, Hazara and Rawalpindi divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Weather in Karachi is expected to remain dry in the next 24 hours with minimum temperature between 10 degree centigrade and 12 degree centigrade. In Lahore, it is forecast cold and dry besides misty in morning with minimum temperature between 4 degree centigrade and 6 centigrade degree.
In Quetta, weather is likely to remain very cold and dry with minimum temperature between minus four degree centigrade and minus two degree centigrade. In Peshawar, cold and dry weather is expected to prevail with minimum one degree centigrade and three degree centigrade. In Islamabad, weather is forecast cold and dry with minimum temperature between one degree centigrade and three degree centigrade.
