Oxford University Press (OUP) organised an Educators' Symposium and launched 'School Textbooks and Supplementary Readers Catalogue for 2015' at the Media 1 Hotel. This catalogue includes textbooks and supplementary readers published by OUP China, India and Pakistan who form part of the Asia Education Division which also includes Oxford Fajar (Malaysia).
The event showcased the textbooks, supplementary readers, and digital resources published by Asia Education (OUP China, India, and Pakistan) for all Indian, Pakistani and Arabic medium schools in the UAE. OUP also organised 'Shaping Learning Together'-a symposium for educators- as part of the launch event. The speakers at the launch included Nicholas Horsbourgh, the esteemed OUP author, and teacher trainers from China, India, Pakistan and the UK presenting on the latest school textbooks and courses and teaching strategies. A display of books published by OUP China, India, and Pakistan was arranged at the venue throughout the day.
In her welcome address, Ameena Saiyid OBE, Asia Education Representative in the UAE and Managing Director, OUP Pakistan, said she was delighted that OUP now had a local representative available to support Dubai educational institutions, Nathan Beaton, the OUP Education Consultant based in Dubai was formally introduced to the UAE teaching community, and will be leading the new education approach.
The launch concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Salma Adil, a raffle draw, and the distribution of gift bags. An Oxford University Press Certificate will also be provided to those who attended the Symposium. This was a unique opportunity to bring the teaching community together to discuss the best resources and strategies for learning and teaching in schools and share ideas and experiences. The 'School Textbooks and Supplementary Readers Catalogue for 2015' enables schools to target student needs through the breadth and variety of books and digital resources.-PR
