The Meteorological Department has forecast rain with snowfall over the hills in isolated places of Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat divisions, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala division) Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. On Saturday, cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country. It said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country. A westerly wave is expected to affect upper parts of the country from Friday and likely to persist till Sunday.
In its weather forecast for Friday, the Met Office said that mainly very cold & partly cloudy to cloudy weather was expected over most parts of the country with mist and isolated fog over plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh. It further said that thunderstorm/light rain with light snowfall over the hills could occur at one or two places of D G Khan, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Furthermore, isolated to scattered frost would come about over Punjab, Western & South-eastern Balochistan and Sindh after midnight.
