Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to block 18 points in Lahore today as part of its "Plan C" to step up pressure on the government. After holding a largely successful show in Karachi, the PTI has asked its activists to stop traffic at Liberty, Motorway Shahdra Chowk, Bhati Chowk, Babu Sabu, Charing Cross, PMG Chowk, Mughalpura Chowk, Bhatta Chowk, Walton Chowk, Liberty Chowk, Thokar Niaz Beg, Raiwind Road, Chauburji, LHC Chowk, Mozang Chungi and Amar Sadhu.Sidhu from 7am onwards. Leaders and workers of Majlis-e-Wahdultul Muslameen and Sunni Tehrik have also decided to join PTI's shutdown call.
PTI Lahore district president Abdul Aleem Khan said Imran Khan will visit each of the points during his visit to the city. Meanwhile Imran Khan on Sunday said his party will withdraw its call for protest and shutdown as soon as the government constitutes the proposed Judicial Commission to probe the vote rigging.
According to party sources, PTI protesters, including party leaders Yasmeen Rashid and Andleeb Abbas, would try to prevent bureaucrats from entering their offices at the provincial secretariat. In the morning , PTI protesters will gather at GPO Chowk, where they will protest outside the Lahore High Court. They will reach the Punjab Assembly on the Mall Road , which is likely to be the central point of the protest where PTI Chairman Imran Khan is expected to address party workers and supporters.
Besides these two locations, the PTI will also focus its protests in two other places. One of the locations will be the NA-118 Shahdara constituency, where PML-N's Muhammad Riaz Malik won against PTI's Hamid Zaman in a controversial vote in the 2013 general elections.
The PTI would also protest at Defence Bhatta Chowk's NA-125 constituency where PTI's Hamid Khan lost to PML-N's Saad Rafique - also a controversial win.
Meanwhile the Punjab government has taken all necessary measures to protect life and property of people. More than 10,000 policemen have been deployed to maintain law and order.
According to reports, in view of the Faisalabad's unfortunate incident, the Lahore City District Government have made arrangements to video-record every moment of December 15. The government is deploying heavy police contingents around shopping malls, business centers, and leading bazaars and markets across the Punjab capital to help businesspeople carry out their chores as usual.
The spokesman of the Punjab government Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that PTI will be responsible for any law and order situation in Lahore.
