Opposition parties move PHC: KP government accused of unjust development fund distribution
Opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday submitted a writ petition in Peshawar High Court, challenging the unequal distribution of developmental funds in the province by the KP government. The petition was jointly submitted in PHC by representatives of five political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. They included Nighat Yaseen Orakzai (PPP), Jaffar Khan (ANP), Sheraaz Khan (PML-N), Sultan Mohammad (QWP) and Mohammad Riaz (JUI-F).
Through their petition, they have accused the incumbent provincial government of not doing justice in distributing funds allocated under Annual Development Programme (ADP), umbrella schemes, and other developmental funds. It further said that ministers and members of treasury benches were being provided funds in bulk, by ignoring members of the opposition parties belonging to JUI-F, QWP, PPP, PML-N and ANP. Barrister Masood Kausar is counsel for the opposition parties.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, along with others, have been cited as respondents in the petition through which the chief minister has been accused of releasing developmental funds to irrelevant persons, including his brother-in-law Imran Khattak, PTI's provincial president Azam Swati and Mureed Kazmi. Meanwhile, the opposition parties in KP have unanimously decided to move to court on Tuesday against the PTI's decision of shutting down country on December 18. Talking to media persons, Nighat Orakzai, said that the incumbent PTI led-coalition government had failed to provide any relief to masses of the province.
Terming the PTI's announcement of shutting down KP and other parts of the country on December 18 an `unwise' and `unjust' decision, she said that such a move will adversely affect the routine life of the citizens while students, patients and traders will be the ultimate sufferers.
