Law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Tuesday beefed up security to guard private schools in the wake of Peshawar carnage. A spokesman for Pakistan Coast Guards said that security of private schools has been further intensified following the terrorists attack on a private school in Peshawar in which more than 130 innocent children were killed.
"We do realise the sensitivity of the issue and in this regard we have taken possible security measures to avoid such untoward incident. Security personnel deployed at the premises of schools are capable and fully equipped to protect the lives of children, he added. He further said the children are not allowed to enter the school until they are completely frisked by the security guards with the help of scanners. We have also adopted proper checking system at the main entrance of schools. Vehicles carrying boys/girls are checked with the help of metal detectors, he added.
SHO Defence, Kanson Dean said that directives have been issued by Inspector General (IG) Sindh to beef up security of schools in the city. SHO Peer Shabbir Hyder of Saddar police station said that police mobiles are deployed at the schools an hour before they open. After the deadly incident in Peshawar, police have strictly been instructed to be active and vigilant particularly performing duties at school timings. The Christian community schools are also being monitored and provide security for them, he added. Army personnel are also deployed for the security purpose at schools.
