Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Thursday said that in the wake of Peshawar carnage, the whole nation was united and ready to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists. Talking to media persons at a candlelight vigil organised by Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) to pay tribute to the martyrs of Peshawar incident here at polo ground, the Governor said that the country had long been facing the menace of terrorism due to lake of unity among the stakeholders.
However, he said it's good to see that the people across the country have strongly condemned the Taliban atrocity and rejected their inhuman philosophy which is based on brutality and destruction. After the Peshawar incident, now there is no confusion prevailing among the political and religious leadership and people of Pakistan regarding the terrorism, all stakeholders of the country are on same page and want to get the country rid of the menace of terrorism forever.
This unity will help the law enforcement agencies including police and Rangers, Pakistan Army, and Intelligence agencies to further intensify their operations against the terrorists till their eliminations from the land. "I express solidarity with the bereaved families who lost their loved one in the Peshawar tragedy. The effected mothers, sisters and brothers must know that the heartbeat of people of Sindh goes with theirs in this tough time," he added.
Pakistan Peoples Party leader Shehla Raza on this occasion termed the Peshawar attack on school children as saddest tragedy in the history of Pakistan. "Those who are behind this cowardly act must not be forgiven and should be brought to justice<: she added. Shehla said that they would not let anyone to play with the future of Pakistan. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ghulam Qadir Thebo said that police had taken all possible measures to protect the lives and property of the citizens. He said that police has adopted aggressive policy against the terrorists since the Karachi Airport attack. CPLC Sindh Chief Ahmed Chinoy said that the purpose of arranging the ceremony was to pay tribute to the martyrs of Peshawar incident.
