Meeting of the Board of Directors Pesco held here at WAPDA House with Malik Muhammad Asad Khan Chairman BoD in the chair today expressed concern over rise in line losses by three percent during the period January-December 2014. CEO Pesco Syed Hassan Fazil briefed the BoD meeting about performance and also informed them about Line Losses and Recovery and developmental activities in the Pesco.
The BoD thoroughly reviewed the Pesco's performance for the previous year ie January 2014 to December 2014 and highlighted that during the period the recovery has increased by 2%, while Line Losses also increased by 3% which is alarming. This increase was seriously viewed and vowed that reduction in Line Losses will be achieved. The BoD instructed that to reduce Line Losses and increase recovery the services FIA, Police and the Magistrate should be properly utilised, while help should also be sought from NAB for the recovery of arrears.
Pertaining to load shedding on all feeders it was instructed that load shedding schedule in proportionate to recovery must be implemented hence forth and especially in high loss feeders. To further improve Pesco's performance and to prevent illegal use of electricity it was instructed that senior officers must be involved in action against stealers.
Action against the SDOs XENs and SEs with unsatisfactory performance must be taken and they were also instructed to attend next BoD meeting. They were also instructed to conduct at least fortnightly weekly field visits to resolve the customers' problems and submit its report to the Pesco Head Quarters regularly. The BoD, Pesco and the Ministry of Water and Power will ensure their co-operation to Pesco to make it a profitable organisation. The BoD was informed that the provision of electricity to the customers was on their top priority.
To improve the delivery of electricity multiple measures are being taken which on one hand will benefit customers of KPK while on the other hand it will also significantly reduce Line Losses. The capacity of several Grid Stations throughout the Province has been increased while several new grid stations are being set-up. The BoD explained that their aim is to make Pesco a consumer friendly and profitable Company, so that consumers are given as many services as possible at their door steps.
Head of the research department of University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar Dr Gul Muhammad Khan gave comprehensive presentation on Metro Cure and the difficulties faced in printing of photo of Meter Reading on the electricity bills and to secure data of consumers through an electronic mechanism.
For improvement in provision of Electricity the BoD approved the procurement of 300 distribution transformers of 200 KVA worth millions of rupees. The BoD directed to give presentation on the establishment of AMI Cell for implementation of AMR System. The BOD accorded approval to a number of other technical and administrative matters also. CEO Pesco said that we are taking all measures to resolve the electricity problems of the public very soon. Company Secretary Siab Ahmad presented minutes of 92nd BOD meeting, which were approved after detailed discussion.
