Rangers on Friday claimed to have killed four alleged members of a militant organisation during a search operation in Musharraf Colony. According to a Rangers spokesman, the paramilitary troops launched a targeted operation after receiving a tip-off regarding presence of the banned outfit's members in Musharraf Colony. During the operation, the alleged militants opened fire and lobbed grenades, which injured a Rangers soldier. The paramilitary troops retaliated and killed four militants.
The spokesman said a key militant figure, identified as Abid Machar, was also killed in the shootout. He was an expert in making bombs and was also allegedly involved in bomb blasts in Karachi. The identities of other militants were not identified till filling of this report. Huge cache of arms including four SMGs was also recovered.
