Nicol David extended her record of world titles to eight on Saturday when she saved four match points to overcome third-seeded Egyptian Raneem El Weleily, 5-11, 11-8 7-11, 14-12, 11-5. David, who has already achieved a record 100 consecutive months as world number one, was 6-10 down in the fourth game with the home crowd anticipating victory.
But the Malaysian star dug deep to reclaim the title she lost earlier this year to England's Laura Massaro.
