The continuous dense fog and poor visibility in the morning disrupted the flight and trains operations on Sunday. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET), the visibility at the Lahore airport was dropped to 50 metre due to which all the flights were deferred.
Moreover, motorway police closed the Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin and M3 from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad. Met Office said that dense foggy conditions are expected over plains of the Punjab, KP and upper Sindh in night and morning hours during the next week. Dense foggy conditions are expected on M1 (Lahore to Pindi Bhattian sector) during night and morning hours.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY Very cold and partly cloudy weather is expected over most parts of the country with shallow to dense fog over plain areas of Punjab (including Islamabad), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Sindh. Further, isolated thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills may occur over Kurrum agency, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara, Quetta, Zhob, Rawalpindi (including Islamabad) divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining areas of Kashmir
WEATHER OUTLOOK NEXT 48 HRS Very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country; however, light rain (light snow over the hills) is expected at isolated places in Malakand division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dense foggy conditions would continue in Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions, while foggy in Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, D.I Khan and Sukkur divisions during night and morning hours.
WEAHER PAST 24 HRS Weather remained very cold and dry in most parts of the country. Dense foggy conditions prevailed in plains of Punjab and upper Sindh.
