Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that the entire nation stood united against terrorism and now it was the test of the rulers to achieve the goal of eradicating terrorism. According to a JI press release, Haq was talking to media men after a meeting with PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmud Qureshi at Frontier House, Islamabad.
Sirajul Haq said that all political parties had given a mandate to the Prime Minister for eradication of terrorism while the Ulema were also unanimous on the issue because no religion allowed shedding the blood of innocents especially children. The JI chief said that some elements within the country and abroad tried to malign Islam because of such incidents. However, he said that Ulema from all schools of thoughts had condemned the terrorist attack in Peshawar.
Sirajul Haq appreciated PTI's all out support to the government in the wake of the Peshawar tragedy and said the government should also give a surprise to the nation by resolving all issues with the PTI. He added that all the issues could be resolved through talks. To a question regarding resignations, the JI chief said if the government showed seriousness in constituting a judicial commission, the issue could be resolved amicably.
He said that after the Peshawar tragedy, all the political parties wanted to forget the past for deciding all issues. Sirajul Haq fully hoped that the year 2015 would be the year of peace and would put the country on the road to progress and prosperity. Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mehmud Qureshi said that the nation was united against terrorism and extremism. He said that the challenges facing the country were no new, but the need of the hour was that necessary reforms were introduced to overcome the weaknesses,
He said after the 1965 war, it was for the first time that the nation stood united and this spirit must be kept alive. He said the nation wanted that the issue of terrorism should be given first priority and added that the government should easily find funds to eradicate terrorism after a steep fall in the POL prices. Shah Mehmud Qureshi said that the government had agreed to the proposal for declaring the year 2015 as the year of peace, and now the priorities in this respect should be decided. He said that the lack of co-ordination among the law enforcement organisations should be overcome.
