Technical And Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) is introducing three and six months' duration free demand driven courses from January 15, 2015. These 14 courses are being started at selected 159 Tevta Institutes across the province of the Punjab with the recommendations of the industry. Six courses for male, four for female and four for both genders are being offered.
Nearly, 23000 students will get benefit from these courses during one year. Necessary steps are also being taken to arrange job opportunities to the pass-outs of these short courses. Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Shaikh was addressing a meeting which was held at TEVTA Secretariat here on Monday to review the progress for initiating demand driven short courses.
Irfan Qaiser Sahikh said that there is no denying the fact that future of the country is linked with technical education. Promotion of technical education is vital for rapid progress and development of the country. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is attaching top priority to promote technical education across the province of the Punjab. Chairperson TEVTA said that these demand driven courses are being run in accordance with the requirement of the industry. Full attention will be paid for imparting quality technical education and train the youth in order to provide job opportunities so that they may get prominent place in the society. Steps are being taken to make TEVTA a vibrant by ensuring the participation of skilled work force for the national development.
The facilities for professional technical training shall be increased in rural and especially in urban areas which shall be beneficial for strengthening the national economy so that poverty and unemployment could be reduced, he concluded.
