Renowned banker Atif R Bokhari will join NIB Bank as President next month. Bokhari will replace Badar Kazmi as his contract expires on January 6, 2015 and the Board of Directors of NIB Bank, in its meeting held on December 17, 2014, accepted his (Kazmi) request for stepping down from the President/CEO post after expiry of the contract.
Sources said prominent banker Atif Bokhari will join NIB Bank as president/CEO from next month, ie, January. Bokhari has vast experience of banking and in the last assignment he served as President and CEO of United Bank Limited (UBL) for 10 years (May 2004 to May 2014).
During his tenure, he made tremendous strides to create UBL a financial powerhouse and established new businesses of insurance, Islamic banking and branchless banking. Bokhari began his distinguished banking career in 1985 with the Bank of America. After 15 years with BOA, he was appointed Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Habib Bank Limited in July 2000.
In May 2004, he took charge of UBL and led the organisation successfully into new and diversified business streams such as consumer financing, E-commerce, asset management and general insurance. He also serves as chairman or director in several UBL group companies. He also served as chairman, human resource committee of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan, and Member, Executive Committee, Pakistan Banks Association.
