The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) in collaboration with the United States Agency for Development (USAID) has finalised tourism policy for the province, which will be made public in January 2015. To this effect, an important meeting was held with private sector tour operators in Islamabad to get their input and suggestions for the promotion of tourism in the KP, said a communiqué on Tuesday.
Secretary Tourism, Sports, Museum and Youth Affairs Dr Aftab Akbar Durrani chaired while Managing Director TCKP Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, General Manager Tourism Information Centres (TICs) and events consultant Muhammad Ali Syed, Yousaf Akhtar, Saeed Jadoon of Saiyah Travel & Tours, Irfanullah Baig of Waljis Travels, Syed Sajjad Shah of Cox & Kings Pakistan, Naik Nam of PATO, Maqsood-ul-Mulk of Hindukush Trails and Amir Khalid YR Booking attended the meeting.
The officials of TCKP and representatives of the private sector tour agencies thoroughly discussed various aspects as to how promote tourism activities in the province. The participants also discussed the problems being faced by the tour operators in operating tours and bringing foreign tourists to the KP and find solution through one-window facility. The tour operators were asked to give input in organising festivals and events and float packages and market festivals well in advance to attract more tourists.
