Initiatives taken by microfinance institutes, such as FINCA, empower low-income individuals to start businesses, create jobs, alleviate poverty, and create new opportunities, said Senator Kamran Michael, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping.
Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony of FINCA's first priority branch here on Wednesday, Senator Michael said that the micro credit facilities provided by FINCA, in conjunction with its fast expansion plan, will allow aspiring low-income entrepreneurs to increase revenues, provide jobs for others, and eradicate poverty. He added that small loans may enable people to lift themselves out of poverty. Commenting on the launch of the priority branch, FINCA's CEO Mudassar Aqil said FINCA is operating in 80 cities with 100 operational braches, and is the fastest growing microfinance bank in Pakistan. "By providing modern deposit facilities to our customers we are committed for setting new standards in the microfinance industry," he added.
