The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) on Wednesday threatened to launch a protest drive against non-acceptance of their genuine demands. Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, APCA President Syed Amanullah Shah Mushwani said: "If the Sindh government does not accept their demands within 15 days, we will stage protests across Sindh by using legal and constitutional rights."
He said after the constitutional 18th amendment, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan governments had issued promotion notice of clerks, but the Sindh government was still slumbering. Mushwani demanded upgradation of employees, providing them time scale and ad hoc allowance besides regularising the contractual staff.
Senior vice president of APCA Sindh Maqbool Hussain Mahar said clerks were important part of any departments but despite the passage of many years, they were not promoted. He said: "If our demands are not met within eight days, protests will be held outside the press clubs of Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad from January 07 to 28, 2015.
