The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested an employee of Regional Tax Office Multan on the instructions of NAB for extorting millions of rupees from the jobless persons for providing them lucrative jobs or sending them abroad. The FIA special team has initiated investigation against him. The agency also seized his property record and documents involved in making money from citizens in the name of senior tax officials for creating jobs.
Earlier, a complaint was lodged by Malik Munir Ahmed vide FIR 195/12 with FIA, stating, RTO office stenographer, Haji Aasim received Rs 1 million from him in the name of creating two jobs for his sons in RTO office as tax recovery inspectors. The tax officer neither provided jobs nor returned his money. When the complainant pressurised him to return his money, the accused issued cheques to the complainant equal to the amount received by him which were later bounced due to insufficient amount in his account.
Later the complainant moved in FIA for registration of case. The FIA has arrested him on the charge of fraudulently receiving one million rupees from complainant in capacity of RTO office employee. The Lahore FIA director had ordered launching FIR against the Regional Tax Office employee. The FIA investigation has revealed the accused tax office employee Haji Asim also received Rs 2.7 million from the complainant for making a deal to purchase Irani diesel but failed materialising his deal after receiving huge money.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to receive another amount of Rs 0.500M from a citizen Faiz Mujtaba for his daughters' job. The accused also received Rs 3 million from him for making a deal of Irani diesel on lowest rates. The accused confessed to receive Rs 5 million from a journalist based in Shujaabad for establishment of petrol pump. The FIA investigation has detected wide range of financial frauds and irregularities being committed by the RTO employee and had committed all discrepancies by using his official status.
