Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has opposed the setting up of military courts in the country in the presence of the constitution, the parliament, a democratic government and the law courts. In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that the law courts had been sentencing the terrorists in different cases but the government had not implemented the courts orders, thus the responsibility lay with the government.
He said it was the constitutional and legal responsibility of the government to protect the judiciary. The country, he said, could not afford the uprooting of the judicial system. On the other hand, he said, the need of the hour was that the government implemented the courts orders in letter and spirit.
