LAHORE: Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has partnered with the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT), one of Pakistan’s largest non-governmental organizations, for the transport of human eye corneal tissue from Canada and the UK.
As part of its efforts to fight blindness in the country, LRBT aims to provide free and comprehensive eye-care to poor and underprivileged citizens. This is done through its network of 17 purpose-built hospitals which provide a range of services including advanced retinal surgery and corneal transplants.
Etihad Airways will also be organising a charity drive to raise funds from its travel agents to provide food and other essential goods to LRBT patients.
