The Karachi Port handled 291,228 tonnes of cargo comprising 210,235 tonnes of import cargo and 80,993 tonnes of export cargo including 6,754 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 210,235 tonnes comprised of 98,730 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,329 tonnes of general cargo; 44,121 tonnes of bulk cargo: 27,235 tonnes of coal; 16,886 tonnes of urea and 64,055 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 80,993 tonnes comprised of 56,166 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,488 tonnes of general cargo and 23,339 tonnes of cement. As many as 6,754 containers comprising of 4,356 containers import and 2,398 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,094 of 20's and 1,611 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 634 of 20's and 359 of 40's loaded containers while 274 of 20's and 386 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely YM New Jersey, Kota Kaya, AS Carelia X-Press Euphrates, PAC Aries, Ever Radient, Al Mahboobah, ionic Spirit and Charelle-II carrying containers, chemical, urea and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. AS Carelia X-Press Euphrates, PAC Aries, Ever Radient, APL Guangzhou, Xin Huang Pu, Lissy Schulte, Sapphire-T, Shalamar, Common Calypso and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers, oil tankers, rice and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Lissy Schulte and Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely APL Guangzhou and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There was one vessel viz. Sakaka carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while eight vessels viz. Karina Danica, MT Karachi, Bum Shin, Tian E Zuo, BW Kronborg, Interpid, Golden Resource and BBC Fuji carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, talcum powder and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 55,158 tonnes includes 25,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,251 tonnes of palm oil; 4,543 tonnes of LPG; 3,479 tonnes of sunflower seed; 3,500 tonnes of chemical; 121 tonnes of general cargo and 12,264 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,763 tonnes includes 5,720 tonnes of cement and 8,043 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were three ships namely MV HHL Amur, GSN Unity and MT Al-Salam-II with general cargo, LPG and diesel oil sailed out sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Nordic Hong Kong carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Nordic Hong Kong, MV Dynamic Ocean, Atlantic Glory, HHL Amur, Annk Jersti, GSN Unity, MT Al Salam-II and Ocean Coral currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemical, general cargo, sunflower seed, LPG, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Rio Blanko, Alliance Rickmers, Alam Madu, Batter Sea Pak and Al Mahboobah with containers, loader and chemical are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were five vessels with containers, chemical, general cargo and sunflower seeds took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FAP Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There are four ships namely CV Rio Blanko, CV Alliance Rickmers, MV Alam Madu and MV Batter Sea Pak with containers, loader and chemical respectively due to arrive on Friday.
