ICE Canadian canola futures settled mostly lower in an abbreviated trading session on Wednesday, but the spot January contract firmed as traders exited short positions ahead of the contract's delivery period, traders said. ICE Futures Canada will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Canadian holidays. January canola rose $6.30 to settle at $451.60 per tonne on volume of 1,406 contracts.
Most-active March canola fell 60 cents at $435.80 per tonne on volume of 10.915 contracts. Chicago Board of Trade March soybeans ended down 10-1/2 US cents at US $10.35-1/4 per bushel. Malaysian Mach palm oil rose 0.36 percent. NYSE Liffe Paris May rapeseed rose 0.14 percent.
