Chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), Hafeez Anwar while talking to media here on Monday has urged the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to constitute Economic Think Tank (ETT) soon to resolve economic crisis in the country and put the economy on the track of progress and prosperity.
While eulogising the observation of Lahore High Court, PCGA chairman said that project of Garments City immediately be shifted to Southern Punjab which produces 80 percent cotton of total production. Production cost would automatically be reduced when the raw metarial would be available in first hand. Vice Chairman of PCGA Rao Sadaruddin, former vice chairman Sheikh Aasim Saeed, Shehzad Ali Khan and Khalid Bashir were also present.
PCGA chairman said it is good news that Pakistani exporters had attained the order of one billion dollars in Heimtex Fair and thousands of people showed interest in the Pakistani products. To meet these order, the government would have to ensure uninterrupted power and gas supply to the valued added industry, he added.
He said that there is dire need to take far-reaching measures to enhance the cotton production by using modern technology, good quality seed which should be well-germinated besides heat and virus resistant.
He said that growers would have to increase the cotton production up to 16 million to meet the demand of local textile and spinning mills. He was optimistic that cotton growers would earn the fair return of their produce next year and they should bring maximum area under cotton crop.
Hafeez further said that Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Cholistan is a revolutionary step which would bring prosperity and happiness in the region. He stressed upon the need for early completion of this project.
